Hydrochloric Acid ($\text{HCl}$) is one of the six common strong mineral acids. It is a solution formed by dissolving the colorless, highly corrosive gas hydrogen chloride ($\text{HCl}$) in water. Commercial concentrations typically range from $28\%$ to $38\%$. Concentrated solutions release noticeable, irritating white fumes, which are aerosols of $\text{HCl}$ and water vapor. $\text{HCl}$ is commercially available as a by-product of many chlorination reactions in the chemical industry or can be synthesized directly by burning hydrogen gas in chlorine gas.
